Welcome

Welcome to the Center for Intelligent Material Systems and Structures.

CIMSS is a division of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Virginia Tech and is located in Blacksburg, Virginia.  This department is composed of faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers, doctoral and master students, and undergraduate students.  Dr. Daniel J. Inman, the George R. Goodson Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech, has been the director of CIMSS since 1997.  CIMSS holds many projects in Structural Dynamics and Control using Smart Materials.
