Dr. Pablo A. Tarazaga currently holds the position of Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech and forms part of the Center for Intelligent Materials Systems and Structures. He earned his doctorate in mechanical engineering in 2009 under the advisorship of Prof. Dan Inman and Prof. Marty Johnson at Virginia Tech. He focused on the dynamics and control of pressurized optical membranes.

He earned his master’s degree in ME in 2004, also from Virginia Tech, and his bachelor’s degree in ME from the Univ. of Puerto Rico in 2002.

Since receiving his Ph.D., Tarazaga has worked as a research assistant at the University of Bristol in England. He has concentrated on efficient test strategies for model validations, modal analysis of large structures and ground vibration tests of helicopters.

His research interests are:  structural mechanics, dynamics and control; intelligent material applications; structure acoustic interactions; power/energy harvesting; model updating; model reduction; SHM; model validation and modal analysis.
