Andrew Kurdila


Dr. Andrew J. Kurdila is the recipient of the W. Martin Johnson Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech. He joined the faculty in August of 2005. Previously Dr. Kurdila served as a professor for seven years in mechanical and aerospace engineering at the University of Florida, where he also served as interim director of the Graduate Engineering and Research Center. He is renowned for his work in the field of dynamical systems theory, control theory and computational mechanics. Dr. Kurdila earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1983, his master’s from the University of Texas at Austin in 1985, and his Ph.D. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1988.
